I graduated from Kent State University in Ohio in May 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in newspaper journalism. I spent the next nine months at an internship with The Vindicator, a newspaper in Ohio.
That summer, I wrote fiction in Ireland as part of a six-week program through the University of Iowa.
I began working with the Naples Daily News in August 2011. As a multimedia journalist, I anchored a morning news video for the site and voiced a daily and weekly radio segment. Over my five years at the paper, I covered higher education, the city of Naples, crime and features.
I now work as a public information officer for the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, fulfilling records requests, arranging press conferences and writing releases. I also help to manage the agency’s social media accounts and produce videos.
I head two fiction workshops for writers in Southwest Florida. When I’m not writing, you can usually find me taking care of my many pets.
